Projects & Inquiry

The MYP encourages students to take their learning beyond the textbook by exploring questions that matter to them. Through inquiry and project-based learning, students build on what they have learned, investigate real-world topics, make connections across disciplines, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. They are encouraged to ask questions, pursue their interests, develop solutions, and share their thinking with others.

The Community Project, completed in Grades 7 – 8, gives students an opportunity to collaborate and engage in service within a community context. In Grades 9 – 10, the Personal Project allows students to pursue an area of interest while consolidating their learning and strengthening self-management skills. At Bowman, student projects might include researching marine biology, creating lessons to help younger students understand climate change, or partnering with Pets in Need to explore ways to support animals in our community
