The First Plane of Development

During the First Plane of Development (ages 0 — 6), children are building the foundation for lifelong learning. In Bowman's Primary Level, our goal is to nurture concentration, self-regulated behavior, independence, confidence, and a genuine curiosity about the world.

Dr. Montessori described this stage as the absorbent mind, a period when children learn quickly and almost effortlessly through meaningful activity. As sensorial explorers, they learn by engaging their senses with carefully prepared materials and hands-on experiences that support each child's unique needs and periods of readiness.

Our classrooms are welcoming communities where children develop empathy, collaboration, and respect for others through authentic daily interactions. In this joyful, thoughtfully prepared environment, children are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally at their own pace
